Import
Whatever vehicles you import and sell, from a dealership, yard, over the internet or anywhere else they'll need a VINZ test.
If you import vehicles they have to be complied, registered, and tested for a Warrant of Fitness (WOF) or Certificate of Fitness (COF). At VINZ we do all of that.
If you have an enquiry about the requirements for importing a vehicle please contact technical@imvda.co.nz
If you're a registered trader, no matter how or where you sell, your vehicles must have had all the necessary inspections and paperwork to be road legal. That's what we're here for at VINZ We know how to deliver the service you need - from our own growing network of testing stations and over 50 VINZ compliance service centres nationwide.
Compliance Certification
An unregistered imported or deregistered vehicle must be "certified"
before being registered. This involves checking documentation and
thoroughly inspecting to ensure that it meets safety standards
recognised in New Zealand Vehicles with structural damage, repairs, or
modifications must also be checked and certified by NZTA appointed
specialists. Most vehicles certified for registration will require a
VIN - "Vehicle Identification Number". This is a unique number used as
the key identifier for the vehicle in all Motor Registration records.
